Lors de l'opération Husky , des troupes ont été débarqués sur 3 zones ( en plus de cela la 82nd Airborne fut larguée plus dans les terres ) , 3 Divisions ont été choisie pour le premier assaut ,
l'une d'elle avais pour but de capturer la ville de Gela .
A cette mission ce fut la Big Red One qui fut choisie .
